Trauma-Informed Study Group for University Students

Facilitated by Maha Ghazale & Sarah Sabbah

About the Group

This 10-week virtual study group invites university students to explore the impact of trauma on the brain, behavior, relationships, and learning using the book What Happened to You? by Dr. Bruce D. Perry and Oprah Winfrey.

Each session will include:

  • A brief grounding/well-being practice

  • Chapter-based group discussion using guided questions

  • Opportunities for reflection, sharing, and integration

The group is designed to be interactive, reflective, and inclusive. No prior background in trauma studies is needed—just a willingness to read, reflect, and engage respectfully.

Objectives

  • Understand the core principles of trauma, stress, and healing

  • Explore brain development and how early experiences shape behavior

  • Foster emotional awareness, empathy, and reflective dialogue
